When in doubt, just leave it to Beavers!

Or at least, that will be the attitude in Birdland for the time being. The long awaited promotion of 24-year-old outfield prospect Dylan Beavers is finally happening.

His contract has been selected from Triple-A Norfolk and he is Houston bound for his Major League debut.

The Orioles took Beavers in the 2022 MLB draft as the Competitive Balance Round A pick, meaning that he was the organization's next pick after Jackson Holliday. The smooth-swinging left-handed hitter has steadily climbed his way to the top of the Minor Leagues while dominating with the bat at every stop.

This season has specifically been his best offensive display yet, and it seems that the Cal-Berkely alumnus really turned on the jets knowing that he was knocking on the doors of the big leagues. His 18 home runs are second best in the entire Minor League system. He's batting .304 with a .934 OPS, 34 extra base hits, and 23 stolen bases. 68 walks contribute to a .420 OBP, and that's pretty solid for a 98 game sample.

In the month of August leading up to his promotion, he has posted a 1.059 OPS in 11 Triple-A contests.

The Orioles are getting a professional bat. Beavers has always carried a great batter's eye and hits to get on base, as evidenced by his above average OBP. A short and quick swing enables him to square up pitches anywhere that he gets them. Seen more as a contact hitter, the ball will jump and soar off his bat when he runs into the right pitch.

There are vacancies in the Orioles outfield. Cedric Mullins and Ramon Laureano were dealt away at the trade deadline. Colton Cowser and Tyler O'Neill remain on the injured list. There is now room for Beavers to get reps in at the big league level. How interim manager Tony Mansolino plans to use him? That is yet to be seen. Nevertheless, he is a big leaguer after patiently vying for a promotion. This should be an exciting journey for Orioles fans and others to keep track of.
