It has been a long time since I have been able to say this, but it is time.

It's game week!

The Baltimore Orioles begin Spring Training exhibition play this weekend on Saturday. They host the Pittsburgh Pirates at home at Ed Smith Stadium with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 EST. It will be aired on MASN.

As you may recall from last spring, I covered bits and pieces of exhibition games throughout Spring Training. I carefully looked out for top performances from the Orioles' top prospects and Minor League invites in accordance to the theme of my blog site.

This is how coverage of Spring Training will work this season on Learning To Fly.

It will be a very similar format from last spring. I will be keeping track of games while looking for standout individual performances from the Orioles' prospects and Minor Leaguers. Players like Coby Mayo and Chayce McDermott will be closely paid attention to. Non-roster invites and top prospects like Dylan Beavers, Enrique Bradfield Jr., and top catching prospect Samuel Basallo will also be cloesly examined.

In addition, I will keep close tabs on how the Orioles' recently graduated prospects are performing. Some of those names may include Jackson Holliday, Cade Povich, and Colton Cowser.

There will be one new addition to Spring Training coverage in 2025. At the end of each week, I will select a crop of players who performed well during the week and I will recognize them as "LTF's Young Spring Stars." Here, the Orioles' top prospects and non-roster invites will be recognized for stellar weeks on the field. It is similar to what I did last season during my weekly recaps, when I named three standout performers on each Orioles Minor League affiliate.

With the plethora of young talent at Orioles camp during exhibition play, there should be no shortage of content and coverage of the Orioles' Spring Training play here on Learning To Fly. Get excited and stay tuned for more Orioles coverage, where you will get to know the future Orioles as they mix in at camp with the Orioles' stars of right now.
