Former Delmarva Shorebirds talks about the historic 2019 Shorebirds playoff team
2024 is the 5-year anniversary of the 2019 Delmarva Shorebirds team, and it is one for the ages.
The Shorebirds were named the 2019 MiLB Team of the Year after their 90-48 record set the mark for most wins by a Minor League Team that season. It also broke the franchise's previous single season wins record of 83 in 1996. The accolades piled up as Kyle Moore took home Minor League Manager of the Year, pitching coach Justin Ramsey took home South Atlantic League Coach of the Year, and numerous players were recognized for their achievements on the field.
The team was loaded with some of the Orioles' most prized prospects including top pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez, 2019 Jim Palmer Minor League Pitcher of the Year Mike Baumann, and eventually the 2019 No. 1 overall pick Adley Rutschman.
Join me as I talk over the phone with Ryne Ogren, a member of the 2019 Shorebirds team. We talk in detail about the success of the team, the work and the emotions leading up to clinching a spot, the rise of the future Orioles that we know and love today, and what he has been up to post-baseball.
